Zimbabwe international defender Brendan Galloway could have played his last game for Plymouth Argyle this season—or potentially for the club altogether—after suffering another injury setback.
Argyle head coach Tom Cleverley confirmed that the left-sided defender has sustained a “fairly significant groin injury,” ruling him out for an extended period.
The latest injury comes at a difficult time for Galloway, who is among several Argyle players set to be out of contract at the end of the season.
The 28-year-old had only recently returned to action following a hernia procedure in February. After recovering, he made three substitute appearances against Stevenage, Huddersfield Town, and Barnsley, before earning a start against Bradford City last week.
However, Galloway was forced off in the first half of that match after picking up the new injury, which has now been confirmed as serious.
Cleverley indicated that the club will support the Zimbabwean through his recovery before making any decisions about his future.
“Unfortunately for Brendan it’s a fairly significant groin injury. We will be there for him, to rehab him as best we can, and then later on we will sit down with him and see what his future looks like,” said Cleverley.
Since joining Plymouth Argyle in 2021, Galloway has proven to be a dependable defender when fit. However, recurring injuries have limited his impact.
Over his time with the club, he has made 84 starts and 26 substitute appearances, scoring six goals.
This season, Galloway featured in 26 matches across all competitions, starting 19 of them. He was also part of Zimbabwe’s squad at the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco earlier this year.
With another spell on the sidelines and his contract nearing its end, uncertainty now surrounds Galloway’s future at Plymouth Argyle.
The coming months could prove decisive as both player and club assess the outcome of his rehabilitation and potential next steps.
