Warriors forward Tino Kadewere provided two assists in Nantes’ 3-1 win away at Montpellier which lifted them to the top of the French Ligue 1 on Saturday.
Kadewere started the game at the Stade de la Mosson and lasted the entire game, as he flourished in a play making role in a 4-2-31 formation.
The Zimbabwe international first set up Matthis Abline for Nantes’ opener in the 24th minute before Nigerian forward Akor Adams drew parity for Montpellier six minutes later.
FC Nantes went ahead just before the break through Nigerian forward Moses Simon’s penalty.
Kadewere then provided his second assist of the match for Egyptian international Mustafa Mohamed in the 85th minute as Nantes secured a crucial win away from home.
The former Lyon forward’s good form comes at the perfect time for new Warriors coach Michael Nees, who last week included him in his squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The Warriors will open against Kenya at Uganda’s Mandela National Stadium in Kampala on 6 September before taking on Cameroon as the same venue four days later.
Nees will be hoping to finally bring out the best in Kadewere, who has in the past struggled to replicate his club form in national team colors.
