Relegation threatened English Championship side coach Matt Bloomfield has given a positive update on Warriors captain Marvelous Nakamba who has been out injured since late February.
Nakamba last featured for Luton Town when he started in their 2-0 defeat at Watford on February 23 before he was replaced at half time.
The 31 – year – old defensive linkman has already missed a big chuck of the Luton Town season with a serious knee issue and his return will be sweet news for Bloomfield whose side is currently second from bottom and occupies the relegation places with just six matches left in the season.
While Nakamba will miss his side trip to Stoke on tomorrow (Tuesday), the Zimbabwe was expected to start full training today.Luton Town are also sweating on the availability of Elijah Adebayo and Alfie Doughty, while Shandon Baptiste is also close to a return.
“Marv (Nakamba) will train fully for the first time today [Monday] and could be in consideration for the weekend,” said Bloomfield.
“Shandon could be back for the Easter weekend, but we need to be careful with them both. We’ve got competition for places now which is important for the run-in.”
The Town make the journey north aiming to make it three successive victories away from home knowing a win could lift them out of the relegation zone.
“After the wins at Cardiff and Hull we have to stay calm Nothing will be decided on Tuesday but we understand it’s a big game.
“We’ll approach it with confidence. We need to stay disciplined and impose ourselves on the game.
“Stoke are strong at home, organised, limit the opposition to very little at home and carry threat in the wide areas.
“But we’re confident. The noise levels around the place over the past four to five weeks has risen and that’s a sign that confidence is on the up,” he added.
Luton Town, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, have surprisingly collected just 39 points in 40 matches and are in serious danger of a successive demotion.
Nakamba has made 21 league appearances this season and the latest injury setback saw him miss Zimbabwe’s two 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Benin and Nigeria.
