US-based Zimbabwean female sprinter Rujeko Munetsi is enjoying a very successful indoor season after recently setting a new national record in the women’s indoor 60m at the 2025 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships in Colorado Springs.
Munetsi, who is a student athlete at New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, New Mexico, United States recovered from a stumble out of the blocks to finish fifth in the 60-meter dash in a blistering time of 7.40s.

In the process Munetsi significantly lowered the country’s long standing national women’s 60m record of 7.52 seconds set by former Olympian Winneth Dube in January, 2010.
Munetsi’s solid individual display and competitive time was also enough for her to earn a spot in the 2025 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships which will take place from March 13–15 at the Fall Creek Pavilion at Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The rising Zimbabwean sprint queen is one of only three female athletes from her university who are headed to the NCAA Championships in Indianapolis.
Sophomore Ashley Barrett will compete in the 60m and 200m events. She earned All-American honors a year ago by posting a 7.44 mark in the 60m finals.
Junior Patreece Clarke was selected for the 60m Hurdles. Clarke grabbed her second consecutive indoor All-American honor in the 60 hurdles last year going an 8.52 in the finals.
