Zimbabwean heritage football prospect Camron Mpofu has taken another significant step towards fulfilling his Premier League dream after signing a first-year scholarship with English giants Manchester United.

The 16-year-old forward is among the 15 academy players confirmed as United’s new intake of first-year scholars for the 2026/27 season, with the club announcing the latest group of highly-rated youngsters on Tuesday.

The scholarship is another important milestone for Mpofu, who joined Manchester United from Reading in 2024 after attracting interest from several top clubs with his impressive displays in the Royals’ academy.

Born in Kirkcaldy, Scotland, Mpofu began his football journey at Real Fife before moving to Reading in 2021, where he quickly established himself as one of the club’s standout attacking talents.

Since arriving at Carrington, the promising centre-forward has continued his development within one of world football’s most prestigious youth academies, with the scholarship keeping him on track to sign a professional contract when he becomes eligible.

On the international stage, Mpofu has represented Scotland at youth level but remains eligible to play for Zimbabwe through his family heritage.

He has also attended an England youth training camp earlier in his development, underlining his growing reputation among national team scouts.

His continued progress at Manchester United will be closely monitored by Zimbabwean football fans, with hopes that the talented teenager could one day wear the Warriors jersey at senior international level.
