Vincent clinches maiden Sunshine Tour win at KitKat Cash and Carry ProAm, boosts Olympic qualification hopes

Zimbabwean professional golfer Kieran Vincent enhanced his chances of qualifying for the Paris Olympic Games after winning the KitKat Cash and Carry ProAm on the Sunshine Tour in South Africa on Sunday.

Vincent carded a superb final round 6-under par 66 to finish on 21 – under par 267 at Irene Country Club for a dominant four shot victory.

The victory significantly boosts Vincent’s hopes of qualifying for the Olympic Games which get underway in Paris, France next month.

The 26-year-old star, who plies his trade on the lucrative Golf League went into the final day in a share for the lead with South African James Mack on 15 – under par.

He showed his class in the final round with a scintillating bogey free round comprising six birdies to win his second title as a professional after his breakthrough victory on the Asian Tour last season.

Vincent was consistent during the four day competition as he carded identical scores of 67 in the first three rounds before shooting 66 on the final day.

His dominant display in Gauteng came off the back of another solid outing in the FBC Zimbabwe Open where he tied for fourth, Scott Vincent.

South African golfer Michael Mitchell was second on overall 17 – under par 271 after shooting a round of 66 on the last day.

Mitchell carded 73 67 and 65 in the preceding rounds and finished one shot of compatriot Jacques Blaauw who finished on 16 – under for the tournament.

Kyle Baker also from South Africa and Englishman Joe Long tied for fourth on overall 15-under.

The only other Zimbabwean who made the cut in this competition Stuart Krog tied for 35th place on 6 – under for the event after shooting rounds of 69, 71, 70 and 70 in four rounds.
