It’s already been a breakthrough season for Zimbabwean track star Ashley Miller Kamangirira.

From winning a silver medal at the African Senior Athletics Championships in Ghana to rewriting her own national records in both the women’s 400m hurdles and 100m hurdles, the Zimbabwean has emerged as one of the country’s brightest athletics prospects in 2026.

The latest chapter in her remarkable rise came earlier this month when she produced a career-defining performance at the Lone Star Grand Prix in Texas, clocking a sensational 54.08 seconds to finish second and break the 55-second barrier in the 400m hurdles for the first time. In the process, she finished ahead of former World Championships medallist Shamier Little.

Now Miller has another opportunity to test herself against the very best.

The Zimbabwean will line up in the women’s 400m hurdles at the Doha Diamond League meeting on Friday, where she is set to face a world-class field at the Khalifa International Stadium in Qatar.

The meeting marks the seventh stop of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League season and offers valuable ranking points as athletes chase qualification for the Diamond League Final.

For Miller, it is another chance to demonstrate that she belongs among the world’s elite as she continues her push towards qualification for the World Athletics Championships and, ultimately, the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

The challenge in Doha will be formidable.

She is set to compete against World Championships bronze medallist Emma Zapletalova of Slovakia, Jamaican Olympic finalist Rushell Clayton, Bahrain’s Kemi Adekoya, Germany’s Eileen Demes, Italy’s Ayomide Folorunso, Panama’s Gianna Woodruff and Norway’s Amalie Iuel.

But based on her recent performances, Miller will arrive in Doha full of confidence and eager to continue a season that is rapidly turning into one of the finest by a Zimbabwean female athlete in recent years.
