The performance saw her setting a new national record for the women’s 400m indoor as she significantly lowered her previous record of 52.16 seconds which she set at the Bob Pollock Invitational in Clemson, South Carolina, three weeks ago.

Prior to Maisvorewa’s arrival the previous record national record was 54.91 seconds set by Larissa Bakasa in 2004 during her time at Texas Christian University (TCU) in the United States.
Maisvoreva has been making significant progress since her move to the USA three years ago initially to Cloud County Community College in Kansas, where she won two national championships, before moving to Auburn University two years ago.
After her performance on Friday, Maisvorewa qualified for Saturday’s finals with the sixth best time.
