Zimbabwean golfer Scott Vincent says he has already turned his attention to the next challenge after his Open Championship campaign ended with a missed cut, insisting every appearance at golf’s oldest major is an opportunity to learn and improve.
The 34-year-old returned to The Open for the first time in four years after qualifying through the Official World Golf Ranking’s International Federation Ranking List but was unable to progress to the weekend at Royal Birkdale after rounds of 75 and 73.
Rather than dwell on the disappointment, Vincent, who has enjoyed a brilliant run of form over the last couple of sessions with his childhood friend Kyle Basson on his bag, said he would use the experience to continue his development.
“It wasn’t my week, but it’s always an honour to compete in The Open,” Vincent said.
“Every opportunity to tee it up in a championship like this is a chance to learn, grow, and keep improving.
“Grateful for the experience, and excited to get back to it this week.”
Vincent’s appearance at Royal Birkdale marked only the second Open Championship start of his career, following his debut at St Andrews in 2022.

The Zimbabwean will now switch his focus back to the LIV Golf League, where he returns to action at LIV Golf UK at JCB Golf & Country Club in Rocester.
The six-time international tournament winner has enjoyed a consistent season on the LIV circuit and will be looking to quickly put his Open disappointment behind him as he resumes his campaign.
Representing the HyFlyers GC team in the absence of the legendary Phil Mickelson, Vincent has been in great touch in recent outings, placing 4th in Mexico City, T8 in Virginia, 5th in Korea, 15th in Andalucia, T10 at the International Series in Morocco (Asian Tour) before missing the cut at the Open Championship last weekend.
Other notable results achieved by Vincent in the LIV Golf League this season include finishing T13 in Riyadh, T24 in Adelaide, T31 in Hong Kong, T17 in Singapore, and 11th in South Africa.
The Zimbabwean golfer finished T16 at LIV Golf United Kingdom in 2024.
Vincent has been threatening to win lately and will be aiming to be in contention for the title in England come Sunday.
