Zimbabwe Warriors striker Tino Kadewere has confirmed he is on the road to recovery after undergoing knee surgery, a setback that could rule him out of the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals.

Kadewere, who joined Greek Super League side Aris Thessaloniki this season from French club FC Nantes, revealed his struggles and gratitude in an emotional post on social media.

“A few weeks back I had surgery on my knee and honestly it’s been the toughest moments ever,” he wrote. “I just want to thank everyone for the messages and all the love you showed. Special thanks to my wife, my boys and everyone from the team @arisfc_official who gave me the strength I needed and were there all the time.

“I have been struggling a lot with these injuries and sometimes you ask yourself so many questions with no answers, but I believe everything happens for a reason and I will never give up. I’ll keep fighting and make sure one day all this will just be history. Happy with the progress already and soon I’ll be back.”

The 29-year-old forward is expected to be sidelined for up to three months, making him a major doubt for Zimbabwe’s AFCON 2025 campaign.

Kadewere’s latest injury comes barely a week after returning from a one-month layoff due to a separate issue. He also missed Zimbabwe’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Lesotho earlier this year.

His absence is a big blow for the Warriors, who are looking to make a strong impression on their return to the continental stage.
