Former Zimbabwe rugby international Marvin Chirume has been unveiled as the new head coach of the Ghana national rugby team.
Chirume met some members of Ghana Rugby Football Union at the weekend as he begins his tenure in the West African nation.
He takes over the coaching reins in Ghana from compatriot Dallas Kuzorera, who recently returned home after a lengthy spell.
The move to Ghana marks a new chapter in Chirume’s coaching career as he makes the leap into international rugby after coaching at almost every junior age group level in Zimbabwe for well over a decade.
In his last coaching role before moving to Ghana, Chirume was part of the coaching staff of the Zimbabwe Under-20 rugby team which won back to back Rugby Africa U20 Barthes Cup titles on 2022 and 2023.

He also coached local giants Old Hararians in addition to his role with Gateway High School, where he was the sports director.
Prior to venturing into coaching, Chirume has a successful playing career.
Playing at full-back, Chirume represented the Prince Edward School first team, popularly known as the Tigers in 1996 before featuring for Old Hararians between 1997 and 1998.
The major highlight of his playing career came in 2023 and 2004 when he was part of the Zimbabwe Sables squad.
