Zimbabwe will compete in a T20 international tri-series against hosts Namibia and South Africa in Windhoek later this month, with the Chevrons returning to action following their recent home series against India and Bangladesh.

The tournament will provide Zimbabwe with another opportunity to assess their squad against familiar regional opposition after a busy international schedule that included a three-match T20I series against India and a multi-format home series against Bangladesh.

Zimbabwe head into the competition looking to bounce back after suffering a 3-0 T20I series defeat to India in Harare, where captain Sikandar Raza said the experience of facing one of the world’s strongest teams would ultimately benefit the side.

The Chevrons will renew their rivalry with Namibia, having faced the Eagles regularly in recent years, including during the Africa Regional Qualifier, where both nations secured qualification for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

South Africa will provide another stern test after defeating Zimbabwe by five wickets during the Super Eight stage of this year’s T20 World Cup.

Zimbabwe Cricket managing director Givemore Makoni welcomed the opportunity for the Chevrons to face quality opposition.

“Fixtures of this calibre are vital for our growth as a team,” Makoni said in an interview with The Herald.

“The tri-series gives us another opportunity to test ourselves against strong opposition, continue building squad depth and expose our players to high-level international cricket.”

The Windhoek tournament is also expected to give Zimbabwe’s technical team another chance to assess combinations and broaden the pool of players available for future assignments.

Zimbabwe’s squad and the full fixture schedule are expected to be announced in the coming days.
