Zimbabwean middle-distance runner Privillege Chikara continues to impress on the US collegiate circuit after registering her second outdoor personal best of the season in the women’s 800m at the Pepsi Florida Relays.
Competing in Gainesville, Florida, Chikara clocked 2:03.44 to finish second in her heat, improving on her previous personal best of 2:03.83 set at the NCAA Division I East First Rounds in Jacksonville last year.
The performance in the 800m adds to her strong early-season form, having also posted a personal best in the 1500m.
She recorded a time of 4:18.18, surpassing her previous mark set at the 2025 CUSA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
A product of the National Sports Academy, Chikara’s rise has been steady. She initially moved to the United States on a scholarship at Meridian Community College, where she enjoyed a standout junior career.
Her achievements include being named the 2023 NJCAA Indoor Women’s Track Athlete of the Year and winning double gold in the 800m and mile at the NJCAA Indoor Championships in Topeka, Kansas.
Her success earned her a move to Middle Tennessee State University, where she is continuing her development alongside fellow Zimbabwean Faith Ndlovu.
Chikara’s continued progression signals her growing potential as one of Zimbabwe’s leading middle-distance prospects on the international stage.
