Wolverhampton Wanderers coach Vitor Pereira has credited Zimbabwe international Marshall Munetsi for Norwegian striker Jorgen Strand Larsen’s blistering form towards the end of the English Premier League season.
Larsen scored seven goals in his final nine appearances to double his tally for the campaign while he also managed four assists in 35 appearances.
Pereira believes January signing Munetsi has also played a big part in Larsen’s strong finish to the season.
But Pereira recognises he has played a key role for the team in creating the space in which his fellow forward has profited.
WHAT PEREIRA SAID :
“He (Larsen) is working a lot on the small things that make the difference, the technical things for a striker,” Pereira was quoted by Express & Star.
“But now, almost all the time, we have a player close to him and that player is Munetsi.
“In France he played behind the striker and he attacks the space a lot. The connection between them is a good one.”
“I look at the video to prepare for the next game and every time we cross a ball into the box, Munetsi is there to do the movement and open the space for Larsen.
“Every time he is there, these movements support Larsen. He attracts the opponent and opens space.
“It’s not only this, but in my opinion this connection between them is very important,” Pereira added.
MUNETSI MOVE TO WOLVES
Munetsi joined Wolves on January transfer window deadline day this year , with the midfielder joining on an initial three-and-a-half year deal from French side Reims.
Wolves reportedly paid 16 million pounds for the 28 – year – old Zimbabwean star who scored two goals in 14 Premier League appearances including one assist.
